Shri Somendar Singh, General Manager, NABARD, Gujarat and 30 district officers of NABARD from state of Gujarat visited ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Vasad on 19 March 2024. As per pre-planned programme, they reached the Research Centre at 2.45 pm. They were welcomed at Research Centre with bouquets and flowers. On this occasion, the ICAR song and a video based on the work of the research centre were played. After that Dr. M.J. Kaledhonkar, Head of the centre and Dr. A.K. Singh, Former Head informed all about the activities of the Centre. Dr. Gaurav Singh gave information about the work being done in the research centre on the subject of pre-fabricated structures and talked about the need for more research on it. Dr. Dinesh Jingar, Scientist shared his experiences in managing ravine lands through bio-engineering techniques. Dr. Sagar Vibhute, Scientist, ICAR-Central Soil Salinity Research Institute, Research Centre, Bharuch also gave a presentation on use of subsurface drainage system for reclamation of waterlogged saline soils in Khabhat region of Anand district. The NABARD officials showed great interest in the above three topics and advised to prepare pilot projects for NABARD funding. All the officials also visited the research farm of the centre, took information about on-going activities and expressed great satisfaction. On behalf of the Centre, Dr. Gaurav Singh expressed his gratitude to all the officers for visiting the Research Centre and acquiring information about the centre’s activities.
