ICAR- Indian Institute of Soil and Water Conservation, Research Centre, Udhagamandalam organized Hindi Diwas/ Hindi Chetana Maas/ Hindi quarterly workshop on 12-09-2024. The programme was inaugurated with invocation song & lighting of the lamp by the Head of the Centre, Dr. Somasundaram Jayaraman. Briefing about the programme was done by Dr. S. M. Vanitha, Senior Scientist & Hindi Officer (I/C) and told the importance of Hindi as an official language, announced different competitions and activities to be conducted during the one moth programme of Hindi Chetana Maas for creating awareness and encouraging all the staff for doing all the official work in Hindi. Dr. Somasundaram Jayaraman, Head of the Centre said in his address about the need to adopt Hindi as an official language and encouraged all staff to adopt and learn Hindi. He also requested all the staff to actively participate and involve in the activities of Hindi Chetana Maas. As a part of the Hindi workshop, a practical session on Hindi words and simple sentence making for official use was organized. All scientists, technicals, administrative, supporting, contractual and project staff of around 35 nos. participated in the programme. The programme was coordinated by Dr. S. M. Vanitha, Senior Scientist and Hindi Officer (I/c) and Shri. George John, Senior Technical Officer under the guidance of Head of the Centre. The programme was ended with a formal vote of thanks.
